By an explosion in a coal mine in the east of the Czech republic are at least thirteen miners to the accident. At least ten others are injured. That has a spokesperson of the operator OKD this morning announced. Among the dead are eleven Poles, and two Czechs. The entire complex near the town of Karvina is vacated.

According to the spokesman, exploded at a depth of some 800 meters of a mixture of oxygen and methane gas. The fire brigade and rescue service are looking for possible victims and survivors.

The my is since 1968 in use, and a few years ago, modernized. The shafts and corridors go down to a depth of 1,100 meters. Operator OKD is since april again in public, after financial problems. Work there are around 9,500 people for the mining company, that this year is about 5 million tons of coal produced.
