The new Golf GTI has just taken the ass on me. Here is a car with 230 hp, which should be about as boring as practicing German verbs. For how has the Golf GTI been in a number of years. Not always but for a long time.

Since I drove the 270 hp R20-version of the previous-generation Golf I have had a strained relationship with the Golf GTI – rarely have I bored me so much in such a quick car. R20 was all velfriseret, too well behaved and too sure. How goes it often goes, when the car manufacturers must build to the right buyers. Those who have the money and the desire for the logo, but not bother to protect off in an uncompromising GTI for everyday.

And we have the strong feeling, that the VW engineers have been fully aware of the dilemma, which is about to succeed with to build a car that is both comfortable, safe and fun. In any case, it is almost magically managed for VW to create a compromise, the major and hardly looked better. Of course, the Golf GTI is not created by a fluke, but through clever engineering and creation.
