An employee at Gladsaxe Kommune has dummet out tremendously, since he saved a spreadsheet locally on a computer and left the office.

In the worksheet lay namely the personal data of 20,000 citizens in the municipality, and the computer, as the spreadsheet was, has now been stolen, along with three other computers.

the Information deals with things like social security number, age, gender, address and family circumstances. In some cases, municipal services, information about residential facilities, for example, the physically disabled, as well as the membership of the church.

Ulla Baden is the chief communications officer at Gladsaxe Kommune, and she explains that it is not unusual that there are stolen things from the town hall.

– How can they possibly come in and take the computers?

– A town hall is indeed a place where citizens, and where there is a lot of people, and it may therefore well happen that someone gets sneaked into some places where they shouldn’t be. It must be what has happened here, for we have not had a break-in.

– as We can see, when there is work on the computer lately, and when it is gone. So in the time it has been removed from an office.

– There are various open activities, which makes that if you are unlucky, you can’t avoid, that sometimes stolen something at city hall. Therefore, we must of course also take care of our things.

– Have the computers not been in a locked room?

– It can easily be done, and then you come in through a detour, or they have gone with some other check. The town hall is locked. It is just a large area where there move many people in the course of the day and evening.

– There are also guards on, which keeps the eye.

– the Computers are simply not saved to a specific location?

– They should not be promoting. It is what is the error in it, so that the computers have been advancing and has not been filed down or locked away in any way.

– Now, of course, been stolen four computers, if it was such, that computers normally promote, then it would have been many more.

– There are many other places that are more obvious to steal from than a town hall. It could not indicate that they have been conscious after the data?

– It is not normal that there is data on a computer at a town hall.

– But it could be that they didn’t know it?

– It is not normal, that there is computers, and it is not normally that there is data on them.

– It is therefore, it is not likely, explains communications manager Ulla Baden.

She also says that Gladsaxe Municipality has reviewed video from the security cameras, but they have not found anything.

Gladsaxe Municipality has been a partner for the IT and Cyber security to assess the risk of misuse of data.

The immediate assessment is that the risk is not big, because tyveknægtene most likely will erase all data for resale of the computer.

in Addition, he says, that identity theft is very rare in Denmark, because it is very difficult to get access to something solely with social security number. It usually requires Easy ID or personal appearance, if you want to have access.

Should tyveknægtene, where appropriate, access to the file, so it is not much, they can use the information to.
