“He has had a full season, certainly not in a European championship, since he is in Saudi Arabia. He has regained all his physical abilities. With his background and experience, I am convinced that the France team will be stronger with N’Golo Kanté,” explained Didier Deschamps after the announcement of his group of 25 players to participate in the next Euro in Germany.
“His last cap was in June 2022. What followed was much more complicated for him, with a serious injury which prevented him from playing and most certainly from being part of the squad for the World Cup. We followed him regularly. He was able to regain all his footballing and athletic abilities by playing many matches. The situation in my head was clear. I made this decision because I consider that the France team will be stronger with him,” declared the Blues coach.
On players not playing in Europe, Didier Deschamps added: “I have no signal to give, for N’Golo I did not have a radical position. Even in Europe, there is not always intensity. There are a lot of international players playing in Saudi Arabia. Some will leave Europe, others will return, I have no message to send.”
