After Argentina, Paraguay won the second South American qualifying ticket on Sunday for the men’s football tournament at the Paris Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11). Paraguay, who only needed a draw to qualify, beat Venezuela 2-0.

The competition will take place this summer, however, without Brazil, double title holder, but eliminated after its defeat against Argentina during a meeting between the hopeful selections in Caracas (1-0).

Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Venezuela hopefuls have reached the final phase of the South American qualifying tournament for the Olympics, a pool of four where each team plays each opponent once, with the top two qualifying for Paris.

Paraguay finished at the top of the group with 7 points. The Paraguayans won the silver medal – behind Argentina – in 2004 in Athens. At the Games, the selections of players under 23 may be reinforced by three elements outside the age limit.
