French goalkeeper Maxime Dupé, who has reached the end of his contract in Toulouse (Ligue 1), has signed a two-year contract with Sporting Anderlecht, the Belgian club announced on Tuesday.
“I am very proud to defend the colors of this historic club and I can’t wait to discover the Belgian championship,” said the player in a press release from RSCA.
Dupé, 30, leaves the French championship for the first time. Trained at FC Nantes, he joined the first team in 2014 and kept the cages of the Canaries for six seasons, most often as a substitute.
After a loan to Clermont, then in Ligue 2, he joined Toulouse for two seasons in the same division and last season in Ligue 1 during which he participated in the victory in the Coupe de France, the first of the history of the TFC.
Free of any contract at the end of the season, Dupé played 115 games in total with Toulouse. In Anderlecht, he will replace the Dutchman Bart Verbruggen, 20, transferred against 20 million euros to Brighton in the Premier League at the beginning of July.
Anderlecht, which failed in 11th position in the last championship, is not qualified for any European Cup the coming season.
