Fifa President Gianni Infantino paid tribute in a statement on Monday to a “visionary” who “in terms of football had planned everything long before the others”, after the death of Silvio Berlusconi, former Italian Prime Minister and ex-boss at success of AC Milan.

“Many saw him as a visionary, and they were right. In terms of football, he had planned everything long before the others, ”wrote Gianni Infantino.

“I want to remember him like this, as the person who – in our beloved sport – dreamed and then turned those thoughts into reality. A big hug and my deepest condolences to everyone who loved him. And thank you for making us love this incredible game,” added the president of the International Football Federation about the former leader and businessman, who died of leukemia at the age of 86.

Football fan Silvio Berlusconi chaired AC Milan for 31 years, which won the Champions League five times during his era, before selling the club in 2017 to Chinese investors. He bought the Monza club in 2018.
