The K-pop singer Moonbin, who officiated in particular in the South Korean group Astro, died at the age of 25, this Wednesday, April 19, announced his label Fantagio. “We deeply mourn the deceased with shock and great sadness,” label officials wrote in a statement.

According to information relayed by specialized sites and Korean media, the young man was found dead at his home in Seoul by his manager. The thesis of suicide is for the time being privileged, according to the South Korean authorities.

Moon Bin – who performed as Moonbin – was a member of Astro and also performed with a sub-group called Moonbin

Very popular, the band of six young men has released three studio albums, but has also appeared on television and in web series. The 25-year-old singer, dancer, actor and model was one of many symbols of an industry that continues to appeal to young audiences, even beyond Korea’s borders.

Several other young K-pop stars have died in recent years, including two suspected suicides in a month in 2019. The two women, who were close friends, had been targets of harassment on social media.
