For a long time, nothing was heard from Berlin about how the West intends to ensure Ukraine’s security in the long term. In his most recent government statement, Olaf Scholz at least addressed the subject again. The Chancellor mentioned “security promises” that Germany wanted to make to Kiev.
There had been no public statements from Berlin on this crucial issue for months. For Kiev, however, the issue is central.
