Three suspects have been arrested in Japan for unsanitary pranks at a restaurant with a sushi conveyor belt. The police told the AFP news agency that they were two young men aged 19 and 21 and a 15-year-old girl. These were apparently the first arrests in connection with several pranks published online under the label “sushi terror”.
The three arrested are said to have disrupted operations at a Kura Sushi chain restaurant. One of the group members is said to have drunk soy sauce directly from a bottle that was intended for all guests. If those arrested are convicted of disrupting operations, they face up to three years in prison.
The “sushi terror” had caused huge outrage in the East Asian country known for its high standards of cleanliness. For example, in another video, a young customer licks his finger and touches it to a piece of sushi passing him on the conveyor belt. Other videos showed customers spreading wasabi on passing sushi or licking spoons for a green tea container.
