One of the injured is in a state of absolute emergency and three are in a relative emergency, firefighters from the Alpes-Maritimes told AFP on Saturday morning. The cause of the accident is not yet known.

The start of the fire occurred on the fourth floor of a building counting thirteen at 12 boulevard Comte de Falicon, north of Nice. If the flames remained limited inside the original apartment, the smoke then spread widely in the building, hence the large number of injured, said the emergency services, which intervened at 10:30 p.m. Friday evening .

In all, 80 firefighters intervened on this operation. In the morning, a vehicle was still present to provide surveillance and avoid a resumption of the disaster.
