61,492 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

This is the lowest daily value in almost five weeks.

In a week-on-week comparison, there is again a very strong minus of 33 percent – as reported yesterday and the day before yesterday, the downward trend seems to be strengthening.

The nationwide incidence continues to fall, from 493 to 464.

It falls in all 16 federal states – and is also below the previous week’s level in all 16 states.

Despite the sharp drop in the number of cases, the RKI has not yet given the all-clear in its new Corona weekly report – and refers to a possible holiday effect.

Literally it says:

“There are signs of a certain relaxation in the number of cases of illness caused by COVID-19. It remains to be seen whether this is a temporary decline, also due to the autumn holidays in many federal states, or whether it will continue. Infection pressure is high in all age groups of the general population now in autumn.”

Ten federal states are currently having autumn holidays, and 35 million people live in them.

Four countries with a total of 24 million inhabitants have already had holidays (Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein).

The two federal states in which the holidays have not even started yet also have 24 million inhabitants: Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

What is also noticeable: The relevant RKI modeling suggests an increase in the occupancy of the intensive care units with Covid 19 patients in the coming weeks.

In fact, occupancy has fallen on eight of the past nine days.

It is now also below the previous year’s level again.

184 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday.

This brings us to 895 deceased in the current week.
