A man was killed in a shot in the southern part of Nuremberg on Monday evening. Another was seriously injured. Around 8 p.m. there was a violent altercation between several people, a police spokesman said in the evening when asked.

According to initial findings, several shots were fired and two men were seriously injured. Both were taken to a hospital, where one of the injured later died. The homicide commission has started investigating the background to the incident.

The Central Franconia police announced on Twitter in the evening that there was a major police operation with numerous emergency services in Landgrabenstrasse due to an attempted homicide. The area should be avoided, it said. The police are looking for the possible perpetrator with a “multiple of forces” and the murder weapon has been secured.
