Aikon has been awarded three plots of land by the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities in the Health Technology Park of Granada. These plots total 4,518 square metres and have a Building Area of 11,295 sq. meters.

This operation is part the IDEA Agency’s Public Offer for Sale of four plots at the Granada science-tech park. It aims to respond to the growing demand for services resulting from the site’s growth.

These four plots total 21,540.25 sqm and are valued at 9.07 million Euros. Aikon plans to construct an infrastructure for offices and laboratories, as well as multipurpose spaces. It estimates that this project will bring in more than 30 millions euros. The infrastructure will include spaces for teaching, as well as services like parking and restaurants.

The company hopes to be awarded the LEED certification (Leadership in Energy Design) for this project.

Five companies make up the Aikon Group, including Aikon Trading which is the largest, dedicated to the promotion and rental of space, and Aikon Logist which is a wholesaler of pharmaceutical products and equipment. It also handles hygiene and sanitation. Protective equipment and prostheses are available for personal, medical and health use.

The Aikon Group’s headquarters is in Ogijares municipality of Granada. It will relocate its Project Management Office to new PTS facilities. Jose Antonio Saez (CEO of Aikon Trading), stated that the new building will be “embellishing in terms of its uniqueness and sustainability model as well as energy certification, and will include the most modern security and maintenance systems.”

Saez points out the Group chose the PTS because it “is an emblematic location, related to R&D, and well-located with respect to the metro area.” He concludes that the PTS is “a unique and privileged business center in Spain for health sciences and technological advancement.”

WEALTH ENGINE

The PTS Park is the only one in Spain that specializes in Life and Health Sciences. It includes business development, research and healthcare. It currently houses over 120 entities on its 625,000-square-meters, with 70% of them being private.

This scientific and technological site creates over 7,500 direct jobs. 25 percent of these are dedicated to R&D. The PTS has created an important line of activity in Artificial Intelligence, (AI) over the past year. This was supported by both the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities, as well as the University of Granada.

The PTS is an engine of wealth in the province. It houses four major areas: teaching, as it houses the faculties for Health Sciences; research with many research groups linked to the University and the Andalusian Health System, and to public or private entities; business development with the presence of important companies; healthcare.

The Park is managed and maintained by the Andalusian public foundation PTS, which is dependent on the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities.
