Eight friluftselskende danes from all over the country – three women and five men aged 24-54 years – has taken the challenge to survive in total isolation when the DR in the evening sends the first episode of the second season of ‘Alone in the Wilderness’
the Programme’s first season on the DR3 was so great a success, the second season of the popular program has now been ‘promoted’ to the main DR1, where the first section will be posted tonight 20.45.
With the promotion are, however, not a big bag of prize money.
At present the format in a version with and without prize money, and we, as the public service station chosen not to have a cash prize at stake. The american model comes from a commercial marked media reality, in which cash prizes are the most common, and where public service tv is not widespread as in Denmark, says the responsible editor for the program, Stine through an exclusive distribution to Ekstra Bladet.
– Are In too stingy to put the money up for grabs?
– No, not at all. The message we want to convey with the series, is not subject to the condition that there is money at stake. The cast have signed up for, because they have set a personal challenge in the participation in the program. In return, they get an experience of a lifetime.
– it Is a part of an exercise in cutting expenditures prior to the medieforliget?
– no way. Season 1 on DR3 also did not have a cash prize, and it has never been a consideration, that should be it now.

The american participants mention virtually all that the money is a great motivator. Are you not afraid that lack this element?
The american participants comes as the program from another reality, and some from the then straitened circumstances, to gain example, can pay for their children’s education. It is not what is at stake for our performers. We want to focus on the social and mental challenge, it is to be alone with himself, without family, friends, networks. We would like to have the participants engage in this experiment motivated by the own desire and will – and curiosity on themselves, their own limits and to reflect on what is important to them. Not for the sake of money.
– one Could not imagine that the participants would hold out longer, if there was a big cash prize up for grabs?
One could well imagine that some participants would, but it is not the motivation, we are interested in. There has been a big interest to participate in the year – even bigger than last year – which also tells us that the performers are not motivated by money, but by the personal reasons that we care about, and which we hope and expect that many danes can understand and can relate to.

the Format and rules are the same as before, but that will have to wait, the new participants even greater challenges, as weather conditions in the wilderness turns out to be significantly harder than in the previous season. the
All the participants have a close relation to nature. But, they have to go through in the experiment ’Alone in the Wilderness’, are difficult to prepare. The question is, how long they can commit to themselves to be alone in the Norwegian wilderness. Only company is their own camera, as they film their stay.
It’s going to be about the fight against the forces of nature – and against themselves. The goal is to survive longer than its competitors and thereby win the competition. How long they should be there, determines the self – the one that lasts the longest, wins.
