Alto Guadalquivir Hospital in Andujar has started last week reforms of its new ICU. It also put into operation its new Computerized Tomography (CAT) equipment. These actions required an investment of nearly 590,000 euro.

Jesus Estrella, the acting Government delegate, and Trinidad Rus, the Jaen Health and Families deputy, went to Andujareno to witness these interventions firsthand. Lucrecia Sanchez, the hospital’s managing director, was also present.

The works are progressing according to the schedule. This established time approach has led to the sealing of the Hospitalization Access Corridor. It can now be accessed only from the backyard. This will prevent possible transmission of pathogens like aspergillosis and makes access to the hospital fully available.

“This Unit will contain seven new ICU beds, which will improve the care of patients and their families as well as the care of the professionals who care for them. It will cover an area of approximately 400m2, in a strategic spot within the hospital’s healthcare circuits, close to the existing Special Unit Surgical and Childbirth Area and near Hospitalization. Jesus Star has pointed Jesus Star.

It will also include a patient monitoring centre, with individual boxes with independent ventilation and air conditioning systems. This will allow patients with different pathologies to be treated.

Because they are all designed to be arranged towards one of the exterior facades, the new ICU will provide great natural lighting for each box.

The Special Unit is a unit that provides care for children and adults who are critically ill. It has an average annual presence of 135 patients and 600 stays.
