Asse The waste containers in Asse are now decorated with a kunstgrastapijt and artificial flowers. The new measure should fly tipping theft.
The new decoration of the afvalstraatjes get the trendy name ‘ContainerCoats’ and comes over from the Netherlands. It appeared that the application of kunstgrasmatten the sluikafval did fall. “A lot of people throw their waste or bags, without costs, in addition to the containers,” says mayor Koen Van Elsen (CD&V). “Especially at the containerstraatje in the Noorderlaan in Zellik is a problem. Every day, we must fly tipping clean up.”
The municipality is going for the new measure in the sea with the Dutch company ANDC from Nijmegen. ANDC introduced kunstgrasmatten already in Rotterdam and the number of fly tipping with 70 percent reduced. The kunstgrasmatten and the corresponding flowers have a hearty price tag. ANDC counting 5.550 euro for the dress of one afvalstraatje. “We are the first municipality in Belgium that this pilot project achieves”, says Van Elsen. “We are going to see the coming weeks or the project through to positive results. If that Is the case, then we also have other afvalstraatjes dress with the ContainerCoats.”
