A scent of paint and wood strikes against me when I come in in the small workshop on Södermannagatan. It is located in a common residential building, one floor down in the basement. The room is lit up by fluorescent lights in the ceiling. On the shelves are a bunch of finished and unfinished small buildings and on the workbench are tools scattered around.
This is the Axis in the hours after school and work on their miniatyrkonstverk.
It takes about 1 month to make it clear, a miniature. I like the feeling to get to the details and see that it actually gets good, ” he says.

out of the 254 works at Liljevalchs, including axel’s thumbnails. Where stands a replica of the Folkungagrillen on Södermalm, a thaikiosk, two bus shelters and a kiosk. He says he wants to create thumbnails that symbolizes everyday life and the present day.
– We go past them every day without thinking they exist.

A mini version of the flower shop at the woodland cemetery in Old Enskede standing on one of the shelves in the workshop. It is a part of axel’s new series. With the new miniatyrkonstverken he wants to mainly focus on the history and on symbolism.
” We are always going past it when we are going to our country house. It is not just a flower shop, it symbolizes the death of me, ” he says.

” I had an idea from the beginning that I would apply to the spring salon with my skärgårdsbodar as a fun thing only, but as in the beginning of last year I got crazy and did Folkungagrillen instead.
in the konsthall on Djurgården in stockholm together with the other miniatyrbyggena. Axel has visited the spring salon since he was a kid and dreamed about getting the tune out there at some point.
” It feels unreal and difficult to grasp. But also private now when people I don’t know start to respond to what I have done.

so Far the reactions have mostly been positive. The fascination seems to consist partly in the technical work as well as in the ”puttignuttiga”, as he describes it.
” It’s great that people think about what I have done, but I don’t want it to be reduced to some kind of dockskåpsnivå. I see it as a historical document and something that people should be able to relate to.
as exhibited at the spring salon goes to buy and it is the artist himself who decides the price. That’s thumbnails were appreciated by the exhibition visitors there is no doubt. All miniatures sold out in just two hours.
– I like the idea that it might be in someone’s bookcase now. It feels very fun.

the summer takes Axel Österholm student. Like any other youth of that time, he’s not completely sure what he wants to do in the future.
” I want to keep on with similar things that I do now, but not just thumbnails. I would probably move me towards the broader authorship and fascinate and provoke at the same time.
