at Least 133 people have died and about 225 others admitted to hospitals in the northeast of India, after they have drunk hjemmebrændt alcohol in two separate incidents.

It informs the authorities Sunday, according to news agency AP.

on Saturday, informed the minister of health in the state of Assam, the death toll was at least 84.

– Every ten minutes we get reports of deaths and injuries in different locations. So far around 200 people hospitalized, many of them are in critical condition, said the health minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Saturday, according to news agency Reuters.

the Victims of one of the most fatal alcohol-related accidents in India’s history are mainly women, who worked on the tea plantations in the districts of Golaghat and Jorhat in the state of Assam.

Assam is India’s largest teproducerende state with more than 1000 plantations, which produce more than 50 percent of all indian tea.

It is less than two weeks ago, that over 100 people died in another place in northern India, after they had been drinking illegally produced alcohol.

It happens regularly that the indians die of drinking hjemmebrændt alcohol. Many cannot afford to buy alcohol in the shops and obtain it instead from the unregulated producers.
