Police in the Dutch city of the Hague took Sunday water cannons to break up a protest against the coronatiltag.
the Demonstration had developed into civil unrest, say the police. Several hundred protesters sought out actively fighting with the police. Among them were many fodboldbøller.
– It had nothing to do with a plain demonstration, says a polititalsmand to Dutch radio.
at Least five people are arrested for throwing stones at the cops. Several others were taken in police buses after they refused to disband the demonstration and leave the place.
Mayor Johan Remkes had initially prohibited the organizers – a group calling itself the ‘Virus ‘ Madness’ – to demonstrate.
But when several hundred people showed up and mingled with hundreds of football fans, he gave in and allowed a smaller demonstration of short duration.
At a time was the mood, however violent, and it got the police to intervene.

the Police in the Hague used the buses to transport the demonstrators away from the central part of the city, where they protested against the government’s handling of the coronakrisen. The protesters are among other things, dissatisfied with the rule that one should keep one and a half meters distance. Several people were arrested after it came to the scuffle with the police.
