Denmark had once the reputation of a progressive and humanitarian society. The reputation collides often with the reality, has spoken in maybe the past years in the Wake of an aggressive rhetoric and policies against immigrants around.

How much this society and policy has to smaller and larger Inhumane, the annual debate on those neighbourhoods, which are classified by the government as a “ghetto” desensitized. Then, if you are poorer, uneducated and criminal than other areas – but especially: “not-West” to be inhabited (read: Muslim).

this week, it happened again: The Danish government has declared 28 of the residential district in the country to officially ghetto. According to the government, the list is used to identify emerging parallel societies and existing by the year 2030 to dissolve.

The language is the a: the Stamp of entire neighborhoods as second-class people with such a historically loaded term. Clear: an Official objective of Danish policy, it is not, people in Ghettos inside caged up, but getting them out of unemployment and poverty.

And yet, the law stigmatized. In addition, it provides special features for the Ghetto-residents. Your children need to learn from the first birthday in the nursery, to “Danish values”. For some Offenses, you should be able to double get as high penalties as other citizens. It’s a violation of the principle of equal treatment and the rule of law unworthy.
