There should be a Demonstration of unity. However, a joint application of Union, SPD, FDP and Green against anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli boycott movements led to violent clashes within the groups.
Bundestag Vice-President Claudia Roth has been an effort to keep track of: Who had agreed to the petition against the BDS movement now, and who is not? To the great majority there was no doubt. However, in the case of the Green there were some no votes and abstentions, were carefully registered. All were in the Embassy agreed that the calls for a Boycott “against Israel, Israeli Goods and services, artists, scientists, and athletes and sportsmen and women,” to be strongly condemned. Thought patterns of the BDS campaign is anti-Semitic are clearly out: “‘Don’t Buy’sticker’ of the BDS movement on Israeli products arouse inevitably associations with the Nazi Slogan ‘don’t Buy from Jews!'”, it is said in the decision.
In the debate, MEPs from all political groups made reference to the calls to Boycott the Eurovision Song Contest. This had been replaced in the Logo of the ESC, the star of David by a SS-Rune. Such openly anti-Semitic campaigns would have to be outlawed – the fact there was Agreement.
The Resolution of the Bundestag calls for, not to promote organizations or projects, the existence of law of Israel in question, for a Boycott of Israel’s call, or the BDS movement actively. Also the premises should be provided to such organizations are not in the Bundestag nor in countries, cities, and municipalities.
