the Spanish electoral authorities blocking the former Catalan regionspræsident Carles Puigdemont can stand in the elections to the European Parliament next month.

It informs the selection list, Junts per Catalunya (the Catalonia), as Puigdemont is the founder of.

It was not immediately possible to get comment from the Spanish electoral commission. But the AFP news agency has seen the commission’s decision.

Junts per Catalunya writes in a press release on Monday, that Spain’s electoral commission will “close the mouth” on Puigdemont and pushing him to the side.

Two other former members of the Catalan regionalstyre, Toni Comin, and Clara Ponsati, has also been prohibited to put up.

Puigdemont fled from Spain in 2017, after he had been at the forefront of an attempt to separate Catalonia from the rest of Spain. He lives today in Belgium.

Toni Comin, and Clara Ponsati, was also involved in the unconstitutional attempts to secede, Catalonia.
