Before the imminent return of school this year, the Maracena City Council held several meetings with the management of the educational centers of town to discuss the unique circumstances surrounding the return of schools to normal due to the COVID19 epidemic.
These were discussed and agreed upon. The measures will help speed up schoolchildren’s entry to their respective centers. They will also be done in a staggered manner with the goal of ensuring that there is no crowd in or around the schools. Maracena, as well as other towns, has a high number of parents and children who drive their children to school. This causes congestion in the area and creates a barrier to entry.
Maracena Local Police designed a device to be used during school entrance and exit. This device prohibits vehicular traffic from the schools’ access roads during school entry and exit. There will be over 30 people per day, including police, civil protection, and municipal workers. The schools will give directions to the cars so that they can drive to the designated parking areas for each school. It is intended to keep a “School Safety Zone”, where students can maintain their social distancing.
The City Council has created an information campaign to help parents and drivers who are affected to find alternative routes to avoid crowded areas when entering and exiting schools. It also helps pedestrians identify the most safe areas to access schools. These measures are intended to make Maracen schools as safe as possible to protect the health of minors and the education group as a whole.
