Sometimes described as “Argentinian Trump”, the new Argentine President of the Republic Javier Milei beat his liberal and Peronist rivals in power for 20 years. The new head of state, whom the press generally describes as “anti-system”, opposed them with fiery outbursts with the flavor of completely assumed ultraliberalism.
Targeting in turn in an outrageous style the major institutions of the State, the “leftists” or even “the idiot who is in Rome” by referring to his compatriot Pope Francis, Javier Milei is not stingy in shocking statements. Le Figaro offers an anthology.
The ultraliberal head of state defined himself in these terms for “anarcho capitalist”. “I am General AnCap [anarcho capitalist]. I come from Liberland, a land created on the principle of the original appropriation of man (…) My mission is to kick the butts of Keynesians and shitty collectivists.” The president-elect explains in these terms his liberal program in which he plans to cut state budgets “with a chainsaw”. He also explains during each of his meetings that he is not there “to guide lambs, but to wake up lions!”.
Javier Milei named the State as public enemy number 1. Among all his harsh declarations, the new Argentine president notably declared during an interview in Chile that he preferred the mafia to the State, reports the magazine Le Great Continent. “Between the mafia and the state, I prefer the mafia. The mafia has codes, it keeps its commitments, it does not lie, it is competitive. In another statement, this time very vulgar, the former economist for the company Aeropuerto 2000 compared the State to a “pedophile”, also details Le Grand Continent. “The state is a pedophile in a nursery school with children chained and smeared with Vaseline.”
In a video which has been widely relayed on social networks, Javier Milei caricaturesly details the broad outlines of his program which boils down to eliminating non-regal ministries. In front of a board, the now elected candidate detaches the labels of several ministries by simply commenting: “Afuera!” [Out!].
Javier Milei notably promised to abolish the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Social Affairs and the Ministry of Women’s Rights. He wants the private sector to take charge of health and education, and to eliminate social assistance to restore the state’s accounts.
In his ultraliberalism, Javier Milei also attacked the Argentine Central Bank, which he wants to “dynamize”. Faced with the catastrophic inflation of the last two decades, he particularly targets the Argentine currency, the pesos, which he describes as “excrement”. “Never in pesos, never in pesos! (…) It has less value than excrement, this waste is not even used to make fertilizer,” declared the presidential candidate when asked if it was wise to manage your savings with this currency . This declaration subsequently led to a drastic fall in the pesos on the market.
In his meetings, the new head of state distinguished himself by often using this swear word. “Viva la libertad, carajo!” Javier Milei relied in particular on this vulgarity to gain his popularity among young people. Former rock singer and football player, the “Argentinian Trump” is willingly vulgar in his speeches.
True to his provocative rhetoric, Javier Milei promised to eliminate “the Ministry of Women”. “In my government, there will be no cultural Marxism. And the Ministry of Women, I will eliminate it. I will not apologize for having a penis. “I don’t have to be ashamed of being a white, blond man with light blue eyes,” he said in May 2022.
The “Argentinian Trump” also directly attacked Pope Francis, himself Argentinian, and who has made social justice one of the main axes of his pontificate. “The Pope, I will tell you to your face, is the representative of the devil on Earth. “We should inform “the idiot in Rome” that envy, which is the foundation of social justice, is a capital sin,” he said. Javier Milei also called Francis a “Jesuit who promotes communism.”
Faced with these repeated attacks, a mass with many personalities was said at the beginning of September to support the pontiff. “I respect the Pope as head of the Catholic Church and as head of state,” and “spiritual leader of a large majority of Argentines,” the one who was a candidate for the presidential election subsequently tempered.
The new Argentine president also spoke out against abortion, authorized for all women in the country since 2020, in the name of the “unlimited right to the life of others”. “I defend life that begins at conception,” he said. “When you start from the wrong moral principle, the result is disgusting – how can you take the ability to kill other human beings as a given?”
The one who makes feminist associations tremble also declared point blank in an interview on August 15, as reported by TV5 Monde, that abortion was “an aggravated murder where there is an enormous disparity of forces because a no one abuses the other,” joining the Pope this time in his frank language on this subject. Indeed, Francis had, for example, affirmed that resorting to abortion was comparable to resorting to “hired killers”. Javier Milei said he would put the issue of abortion to a referendum.
In 2021, at his beginnings in politics, Javier Milei did not hesitate to insult his political opponent, the mayor of Buenos Aires, calling him a “fucking leftist” and a “bald shit”, as reported by the Argentinian newspaper Clarin .
