In the framework of institutional cooperation between municipalities and the Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration, 18,150 euros were contributed to the construction of an observatory for astronomy. This will complete the information and research offerings of the Seron Planetarium. Jose Luis Delgado, the territorial delegate for Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration, visited the facilities along with Caridad Lopez, the deputy mayor. He highlighted the importance and necessity of the Board’s support to municipalities in undertaking projects that increase activity, especially given their financial problems.

Delgado emphasized the “commitment” of this Government and particularly of Juan Marin, with municipalism. This is a commitment that is expressed in deeds, not just in words. It provides resources for projects that the city councils have committed to. These are the ones who are most capable of realizing their potential. Inaugurated in 2018, the Seron planetarium promotes astronomical tourism in Valle del Almanzora. It is located in a location that offers excellent conditions for viewing the sky through municipalities like Seron.

Delgado said that the planetarium is now complete with the new astronomical observatory unit built through a grant from the Board.

He stated that “anything that makes the center more appealing to tourists will result in employment and wealth generation for the residents Seron,” which was the main objective for our Ministry’s municipal support policies.
