Nearly five weeks of the Shutdown continues in the US now. The government staff fear for their existence: Many of them can’t even afford more of the necessities of life.

Tamela Worthin just picked up some of the bags. She works as a security guard in a Museum in Washington – normally. Because of the shutdown, she gets in the Moment there is no content. Something had to happen, she says: “I can’t pay my credit for the month of February, I can’t buy my medicine I need but, I am a diabetic and have high blood pressure. I have not taken them for a week and already notice the difference.”

the severity of the consequences for the 800,000 affected government employees can be, also feel Lily Duran from the Arlington Food Assistance Center. The non-profit food Bank located in North Virginia, just outside the US capital, where several employees of the government at home: “to come To us a totally new experience for many, especially in the forced vacation. You try to help first, before resorting to a help. After a couple of weeks without pay, more and more people come to us – we are here.”
