the Biggest difference was in South Karelia, where the young men, the unemployment rate was 14 percentage points higher than that of women. Accordingly, the difference was small in the Åland islands, where the young men’s unemployment rate was one percentage point higher than that of women.
18-24-year-olds unemployed, the share of women was 39 per cent. The proportion varies by region: the proportion of Women was lowest in Kainuu: 32%, and in Åland, the majority, 43 per cent.
18 to 24-year-old men were unemployed, 23 700 in 2017. Them 8 500 had been unemployed in the previous year. Almost as many had as a student years earlier.
