Two Britons were arrested by the Motril Customs Surveillance Service (SVA) of Motril as well as the OCON-Sur group from the Civil Guard after they were found with 1,950 kilos hashish aboard a sailboat docked at Marina del Este, Almunecar. According to Civil Guard and Customs sources, the events took place on Monday afternoon as the two detainees were removing the drug from the sailboat.

According to sources, the drug was intended for different European countries. At the moment, it was being deposited at a Granada coast ‘nursery’, waiting to be transferred to central Europe from beyond the Spanish borders.

The Civil Guard is holding the arrested in readiness to be taken to court. Investigations based on this drug seizure at Almunecar will be conducted by the Granada Civil Guard Command, and the Customs Service. The hashish was probably brought from Morocco by water and was being transported to Spain via land.
