Two new vehicles were added to the respective fleets of the Local Police and Civil Protection services. This was an investment of approximately 40,000 euros. Jeronimo Garcia (City Councilor for Citizen Security) presented them to him. He highlighted the intention of the local administration “to renew this important work material to achieve better service and enhanced benefits, adapted for the needs of municipal employees seeking to pollute less.”
He said that the experience of the pandemic has shown that emergency services must be well-equipped and ready to serve the citizens. One of the vehicles will be used by the Civil Protection volunteer corps. This group has demonstrated its dedication at this time and has proven that it is still needed. He explained that the service is very popular and is being used more frequently. Therefore, we felt the need to include a vehicle that could transport volunteers as well as equipment. So, we bought this van that’s fully equipped for any emergency.
A vehicle with similar characteristics was purchased for the Local Police. This fulfills a promise made to the staff and the city. Garcia stated that Garcia had promised to renew the fleet vehicles of the Local Police, including motorcycles, patrols, and the crowded van. Garcia said that this is something no other company has done.
The new van is smaller and has better features. It can transport multiple agents and emergency equipment. He said that the van has all the necessary features to allow for city controls to be carried out. The vehicle also includes a state of the art breathalyzer, drug detector and other controls. A digital information panel, located on the lightbridge, is added to inform the public about the type of check that will be performed.
Councilor for Citizen Security stated it was important to keep working on modernizing services and adapting to the actual needs of citizens every day. He spoke about another acquisition for the Fire Station. It’s a container-style shed that is exterior and will be used as a storage area for specialized equipment. He concluded that “with this new space, we decongestate the interior of the facilities.”
