Given the problem of queues and crowds at the health centre, the City Council of Maracena has again contacted Indalecio Sanchez–Montesinos, the Junta de Andalucia’s Health delegate, to request more material resources and people for this health center in the metropolitan region of Granada.
Sanchez-Montesinos is informed by Noel Lopez (marquis de Maracena), that the current state of the health centre is not appropriate given the current pandemic. Users report having difficulty getting their phones answered at the center. To obtain a medical appointment within two weeks. These circumstances can lead to users having to visit the health center in person when needed. This causes long queues at the information desk before reaching the Las Mimbres school entrance.
Lopez requests the Health delegate to provide more information and, most importantly, to add more doctors to address the current deficiencies at the health center. Lopez is concerned that the “Back to School”, which will be happening in the next few days, will coincide with the increasing number of school entry times, resulting in more schoolchildren and parents being trapped in a complex area. Lopez suggests to the delegation that the center’s hours of operation be extended in the afternoons and that the center’s organization be changed to address these problems. He reminded Lopez of his promise to the delegate in 2019, that Maracena would have 24-hour emergency services in place by the end of last summer. However, they are still an unavoidable necessity a year later.
