What to Expect from Apple’s WWDC?

Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference may focus less on new smartphones this year. Even Apple cannot escape the AI hype. We are curious about your expectations for the WWDC: what new features do you hope to see in iOS 18 and how will you use Siri if it becomes truly smart with AI?

Smart Siri

On Monday evening, no new M-socs, no new iPhones, and we actually do not expect any new hardware at the WWDC. You can already prepare the checklist for the term AI, which will likely be mentioned frequently. The big question is in what form it will be. The smart assistant Siri will likely receive an update, but in what way? Will Apple integrate ChatGPT in some way, or will the company suddenly come up with its own AI model? And if Siri becomes smarter, will you use it, and if so, for what?

AI, AI, and More AI

One of the big questions is which AI functionalities each iPhone model will receive. The iPhone 15 Pro has a powerful A17-soc with a neural processing unit, but the npus in older and cheaper models like the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro are much weaker. Do you think those smartphones will get the same AI features or will Apple leave them out entirely? Or do you think those features will be server-sided? And what does that mean for your privacy?

Vision Pro

The only thing we might still hear about on the hardware front is the Vision Pro. The device is still too young to be due for a second version, but there are rumors that Apple wants to announce a global release during the WWDC. What do you think, will Apple sell the AR glasses in the Netherlands or Belgium? When will that happen and more importantly, will you buy one?
