On the former Air-Berlin-a major shareholder Etihad to a potentially billion-dollar lawsuit rolls. The insolvency administrator of Air Berlin, Lucas Flöther, has filed at the regional court of Berlin, an action for damages on the first 500 million Euro against the Arab airline, as the court confirmed on Friday. By further creditor claims the total could rise significantly. The court set the value in dispute up to two billion euros. Flöther is, according to the court is of the opinion that Etihad is based in Abu Dhabi have committed to in April 2017, in a so-called hard letter of comfort as legally binding, to support Air Berlin in the following 18 months, financially.
Because Etihad have withdrawn this commitment, in August 2017, Air Berlin have to file for bankruptcy. A spokesman for Flöthers declined to comment on the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. It is expected to be a long and costly process to be the largest Airline Bankruptcy in German aviation history. So had delayed the filing of the action, because first of all, a process financiers had to be found. The organisation of the money should be allocated to the creditors.
