In the BMW factory in Spandau for delivery on Tuesday, the three-millionth motorcycle from the Band – fitting in the 50th anniversary year. Markus Schramm, head of the BMW group’s motorcycle division, stressed that the Spandau plant will remain the “backbone” of the motorcycle production. They wanted to continue to invest in Berlin. Spandau is the world’s only full-plant of the BMW Group for motorcycles, scooters and components such as brake discs.
Until 2018 was opened a logistics center with one of the most modern high-Bay warehouse, in which 60 million euros were invested. To span the duration of work had been invested in the last few years a hundred million euros, said plant Manager Helmut Schramm (not related to BMW’s chief Schramm). He announced further investments in the plant in which more than 130 000 vehicles per year were produced, including about 8000 Kits for the pure-Assembly plants in Thailand and Brazil. 25 motorcycle models in the segments Sport, Tour, Roadster, Heritage, Adventure, and Urban Mobility are produced here.
50. Anniversary is in the fall
On Tuesday there were no Senate representative to be present, as the super athlete BMW S 1000 RR as the three-millionth vehicle. The official justification was that at the same time the Senate was meeting. The BMW factory is celebrating on 7. September, a large 50-year anniversary. Then some of the Senate are expected to be representative. Present, among others, Alexander Schirp of the business associations in Berlin-Brandenburg and Stefan Franzke from Berlin Partner and the Deputy district mayor Gerhard Hanke (CDU) on Tuesday. Currently the longest-serving councillor in Berlin, highlighted the importance of the BMW plant.
