This is a first in France. The Paris court of appeal has recognized the boron-out as a form of harassment and bullying in the condemned, last week, the company Interparfums to pay more than 50,000 euros to one of its former employees. The opposite of burn-out, setting a burnout due to an increased activity, the bore-out, which means trouble in English, evokes an intense fatigue caused by a lack of work to be done. The facts date back to six years. The collaborator of the French specialist of luxury perfumes under license, then in charge of general services, made a seizure at the wheel of his car. Off work due to sickness for six months, as a result of this accident, it is dismissed for prolonged absence. Being entrusted with less and less missions, or menial tasks that do not correspond to his qualification, he felt ostracized and depressed.
In 2018, the council of prud’hommes of Paris considered that in view of this situation, it was possible to “presume the existence of a bullying” which led to an impairment of “physical and mental health”.
With this new judgment of the court of appeal of Paris, opens with official recognition of the boron-out by the French justice. A decision which might take many employees.
