Travelers at Beauvais airport will have to take their troubles patiently. A strike notice has thus been filed by air traffic controllers and will disrupt traffic from this Wednesday evening, until Friday June 30, at 6 a.m.
“For the day of Thursday, June 29, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) has asked airlines to reduce their flight schedule by 50% at Beauvais airport,” said the organization in a press release. “Disturbances and delays are nevertheless to be expected”, adds the DGAC. To avoid disruption, the administration recommends “postponing your trip.” And for passengers from other French airports, don’t worry, they shouldn’t be affected by this strike.
The union in question, the Usac-CGT, is protesting against the social protocol being negotiated with the DGAC, which according to it “endorses a desire to upset the organization of the work of people in civil aviation, while implementing degradation of the service rendered”. It is a text “as is, unacceptable”, said Usac-CGT in a press release. The union also denounced the vote on June 15 in the Senate of a bill aimed at better organizing air traffic in the event of a strike. It is a “questioning of the right to strike” and warned that “the promulgation of this law would constitute an extraordinary setback in this constitutional right” according to the organization.
