The israeli author Amos Oz is dead. It reports The Jerusalem Post Friday afternoon. He was 79 years old, and to have died as a result of cancer treatment, according to Haaretz.
Oz, if the original name is Amos Klausner, has noted themselves the world over for their literary works. He was also a professor of literature at Ben-Gurion university.
Through his career he has received a number of prestigious awards, including Israel’s literature prize in 1998. He has also been awarded The Norwegian society of writers ytringsfrihetspris in 2001.

He made his debut as a writer in 1963, and since then there has ballet on for Oz.
Overall, he wrote over 18 books in Hebrew, and he has in addition written a number of articles and essays. It is estimated that his works have been translated into around 30 languages.
Titles like “A tale of love and darkness”, “Judas” and “My Michael” is among his most famous. He was also politically active, and wrote several times that he supported a tostatsløsning between Israel and Palestine.
In 1978, he was one of the founder of the israeli peace movements Peace Now, and he stood in many years, the israeli labor party and its leader Shimon the sons of Pharez close. When the sons of Pharez resigned as party leader, was Oz mentioned as a possible successor as party leader, along with Ehud Barak.
In the 1990s pulled Oz from the party and stopped in the place about venstrepartiet Meretz.
Although Oz by many was considered as a peace activist, supported him wholeheartedly about Israel’s war against Lebanon in 2006 and against the gaza strip two years later.
Oz leaves behind three children and his wife Nily.
