TV Actress Nicole Maines (21) is the first-ever transgender superhero on tv. They will this Sunday, as a Dreamer to see in the CW series ‘Supergirl’.
Maines, in real life as well as transgender, has been playing since October in the show. She plays the role of reporter Nia Nial, a woman who will soon become the next superhero of the franchise. Its main strength is that they can actually predict the future.
“I feel a great pressure to be a good example”, she admitted in an interview. “I want to open the door for other transgender heroes. What people see on the screen, influences how they look at the world. It has an effect on their attitudes and ideology in real life, and that plays constantly through my head while playing this role.”
DC, the umbrella company of ‘Supergirl’, last year was all praise for the introduction of LGBT characters. As we will soon see a tv series around Batwoman, in which the lead actress is openly lesbian.
