Problems of bureaucratic or economic, lack of maintenance, the structures built at altitudes too low, abandonment, lack of snow, end-of-life technique. In short, the culture of waste and “eco-monster” on the one hand, global warming to redesign the ecosystem of the mountain and the way of living it, in everyday life and in leisure. what then are the two faces of the same coin. Result: the Italian mountains are populated by the ski lifts closed down, abandoned, old, and obsolete, winter sports facilities closed-temporarily or for years. Throughout Italy there are 348 systems “in suffering”: of these, 132 are discarded and non-functioning for years, 113 temporarily closed, and 103 of those that go forward thanks to the contributions of the State.

Is the result of the monitoring carried out by Legambiente, the results of which are contained in the report “Nevediversa 2020″. The alpine ski world in the age of the ecological transition”. Some examples of that? Closed since 1994, the environmental monster of the Alpe White, in the Piedmont region, Tornetti Viù; closed, respectively, by 2006 and by 2011, the stadium of the ski jump in Pragelato and the bob sled track in Cesana, the heritage of the Turin Olympic games in 2006; closed in 1997, the plants in the locality of the Pious Spiss Valcanale Ardesio, Lombardy, built in the years ’80, as well as those of Marsyas Tagliacozzo, Abruzzo, built in 1961, and now abandoned. And then in Calabria, in the locality of Ciricilla, where the only ski resort in the province of Catanzaro has been closed since 2000.

Then, there are the plants temporarily closed, as the ski resort of Argentera in Cuneo, in Piedmont, with plants closed for the season 2019-2020 and the structures that have passed the cycle of technical life of 40 years; those in the locality of Rocca Rovereto, Liguria, italy, only work in part; to the Col de Joux, Saint-Vincent, Valle d’aosta, the plant is suspended for review, and for lack of snow.
