I laughed at the comic duo Laurel and hardy (Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy) before I could go – nothing gets me to light up the inside more than the idea of some of their most classic scenes. Helans hands would I be able to write a book about.
Jon S Baird’s film, ”Stan & Ollie”, which in Swedish cinemas had the urbota stupid title of ”Laurel and hardy” is not funny movie.
There is no Laurel & Half movie at all, one can say, however, it is a Stan & Ollie film, perhaps the most beautiful and the most sad film ever made about two comedians at the end of the road. They are simply not in vogue anymore, they are admired, respected, beloved, but no one would want to further bet whether at as the comedy comes or in the comics. Can they not just step aside? Here shall be a new path into the future.
when Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy are at the height of their careers, they do ”Desert sons” (1933), ”We go to the Sahara” and ”Scandal in Oxford” (both 1939). Three priceless good movies that contains everything they stand for. Their production is huge.

Next we step on life’s high-speed rail and is suddenly ahead of the game in Newcastle, the year is 1953, and two slightly grizzled, småtrötta, småsjuka comedian is on tour in the Stan Laurels, the old home country, England (Oliver Hardy was born in Harlem, Georgia). The film is based on A J marriott’s book ”Laurel & Hardy The British tours” and focuses on the very last tour the two are doing together.
It goes no further. It will be the end of Laurel & Hardy.
It is a bittersweet tragic film about the invaluable friendship and deepest love, both to each other and to the things that once upon a time (1927 they are working together for the first time) made them one of the 1900s most significant komikerpar: timing, interaction, repetition. The fat one and the smale, översittaren and his mobboffer, yet they sit together for life, yes, forever: ”Like two peas in a pod.”
when they weave in some of the ”Laurel & Half”-movie classic skits in the actual film’s everyday – otherwise it is hundred percent a skådespelarfilm where Steve Coogan (Stan Laurel) and John C Reilly (Oliver Hardy) outshines most of the previous film.
Steve Coogan, I have ever since Alan Partridges days 20 years ago, and Michael Winterbottoms ”Tristram Shandy” (2005), regarded as some sort of genius, John C Reilly stands him in this case not long after. It will kongenialt good game on no surfaces at all of their ”wives” on a visit to London, played by Shirley Henderson (divine) and Nina Arianda (funny).
See more. Three other films about the comedian: ”Lenny” (1974), ”Funny people” (2009), ”The big zig” (2017).
