“New technology detects more drugs in the blood”
“the Police’s ability to detect illegal substances via blood tests has improved substantially over the past year since the national laboratory of forensic science have introduced a new method of analysis.”
“– For all droggrupper, we have increased the positive results, ” says Robert Kronstrand, toxicologist at the national laboratory of forensic science in Linköping.”
“For a little over a year ago, the national laboratory of forensic science, including analyses of the blood on behalf of the police, using a new method of analysis. Elisa, in which the method is called, would improve the ability to detect the illegal narkotikasubstanser via the blood. By the method, could add two new substances, tramadol, and buprenorphine, to it ”
“– Previously, it was quite expensive verifikationsanalys to be able to test the blood for the compounds, a test that, in most cases, came back negative, ” says Robert Kronstrand.”
“Five times as many positive results,”
“After teknikbytet to the Elisa, the results have rather been on the contrary. Now you get five times as many positive results for the two new compounds compared with the previously – from 152 positive results for the two compounds before, to 673 after, during a comparable period.”
“the Technology also provides more positive results for those compounds that previously always been tested.”
“– Elisa we can find lower levels of missbruksmedel in the blood, which is important, ” says Robert Kronstrand.”
“The new method takes a little more time consuming than the old technology, but teknikbytet was the right choice,” says Robert Kronstrand.”
“– You can say that we have increased the quality, and now we have purchased a new instrument which doubles the capacity of the number of samples we can analyze by Elisa. So we’re investing, and there are opportunities to develop it further, if the police would wish it.”
“With the old method for so-called blood screening got the national laboratory of forensic science – handling of blood and urine samples from the police response of five different substances.”
“But the new method of analysis, Elisa is given the answer of seven substances.”
“the Screening is the first step when a blood sample is analyzed. When a hit on a drug runs the laboratory on a more resource-intensive analysis to verify the first decision.”
“With an increase in screening, a total of twelve drug types found: cannabinoids, amphetamines, opiates, kokainmetaboliter, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, methadone, tramadol, oxycodone, fentanyl, zolpidem, and MDMA.”
