There has in recent time been made a short film about the event, “Detainment”, which is now one of the favourites for an Oscar nomination, according to The Guardian. It has previously won several awards, including best short film, and a special jurypris during the Cannes Lions Festival in 2018. (A separate event from the high-profile film festival journ. anm.)

“Detainment” is written and directed by the irish filmmaker Vincent Lambi, and take for themselves the recordings of the interrogations, and interviews the police had with the two tiåringene at the time. The boys were sentenced to a minimum of eight years in prison for murder, but was in the 2001 released due to good behaviour, 18 years old.

Now tells her mother’s story, the Parents react

the Reason Bulger’s parents react to the film will be that the filmmaker allegedly sympathizes with the president. They should not have been contacted during the production of the film.

– He thought maybe that this was something for the public, but he makes movies and a career based on the murder of my son. The least he could do was to contact us to tell what he planned. It is tragic if the film wins an Oscar, considering how little respect he has shown to the family , says father Ralph Bulger to the Daily Mirror.

He acknowledges, however, that this murder is something which is always going to be written about, but it is the actual film he is responding to.

I understand that this is a killing of such a size that it will always be written about, but to make a movie where they sympathize with James their killers are the destructive.

Also the mother of Bulger, Denise Fergus, has responded to the film. This she told as a guest in the talk show “Loose Women”.

I don’t think Lambi, had the right to do this. It is set on nominasjonslisten to Oscar, and I want that it be removed from the list, told Fergus before she also charges the creator for making the movie for their own gain.

Fergus admits that she does not have any plans to see the movie, and that she is going to boycott it.

– I will not live in the past. I have been told that a child plays James in the movie, and I don’t think I can see it. It takes me right back to that day. I have three teenagers at home that I need to take care of, ” she tells us in the program.

I’m sorry

In retrospect, of Fergus, his appearance on “Loose Women” has a filmmaker Lambi gone out and defended himself on Twitter. He rejects the accusation that the film is made to earn money.

– I’m sorry that I haven’t contacted her when I made the film. I sympathize not at all with the president, and have no intention of making excuses for them, that some of the criticism goes, he says and continues:

– If we can’t accept that they are human beings, we will never understand what may have driven them to commit this horrible action. The only way to prevent this from happening in the future, is whether we understand the reason for it.

Now people can go to jail for revealing them in social media
