On the disposal of the Prosecutor’s office of Taranto, police and coast guard have seized an area of about 70,000 square metres, subject to the protection of the landscape, in the coastal area of Marechiaro/San Vito for pollution offences and environmental disaster borne of the unknown. The Prosecutor’s office, considered that the wastes are causing serious environmental damage, also due to the leachate produced by all substances polluting underground, and to allow for the appropriate and subsequent rehabilitation works, has placed the budget sequestration in the area.
