The ESSN is the largest humanitarian program ever financed by the EU, with a value of 1.3 billion euros until now. The monitoring shows that 1.7 million refugees, using this assistance to pay mainly rent, utilities, food, and the need for the house. According to surveys conducted on households, their life is improved or stabilized after having started to receive money on a monthly basis.
The number of working children has fallen by half. Between may 2017 and September 2019, the percentage of people that claims to be able to cover all of their basic needs has increased from one in four to one in two. In the same period, the percentage of families in which the children had to work to help their families has dropped by almost half. There has been a corresponding reduction in the tendency of families to withdraw children from school. At the same time, the percentage of families who claims to have been forced to reduce health care costs is reduced by one third.
