Warner Bros. has confirmed that “Space Jam 2”, the sequel to the halvanimerte basketball comedy “Space Jam” from the 1996, will have its premiere in the united STATES 16. July 2021. The film will include basketballstjerne LeBron James in his first skuespillerrolle. This sign Variety.

It’s Terence Nance, creator of the HBO series “Random Acts of Flyness”, which directs the sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter he collaborates with, among others, the “Black Panther”producer Ryan Coogler.

Even though the original never hit in the net to the critics, it was a “slam dunk” at the cinema, and went into over 230 million dollars (almost 2 billion) internationally, according to Box Office Mojo.

It makes it the highest grossing basketball movie in history.

the Film combined well-known cartoon characters from “Looney Tunes”universe, which Spin the Bouncy, Daffy Duck and Bippe daddy-long-legs, with athletes like Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.

They wanted him to play the lead in a “Space Jam”-sequel where basketball was replaced with, you guessed it, skateboard.

“Skate Jam”, which the working title was, was unfortunately never made.
