Robert Mueller has, according to attorney general William Barr, did not find any evidence that Donald Trump conspired with Russia to win the presidential election in 2016.
But the report strikes than once fixed to the representatives of Russia tried to influence the american election results: Russian individuals offered to assist Trumpkampanjen, write Barr in the abstract.
It is an important reminder, not least because Trump himself has said he trusts Putin when he asserted that Russia was not trying to affect the election.
Mitch McConnell, the republican leader in the senate, thanked on Sunday the Robert Mueller for putting light on this. In a statement, writes McConnell, ”Russia’s ongoing attempts to meddle in our democracy is dangerous and outrageous, and I welcome the special prosecutor’s contribution to our attempt to better understand Russia’s actions in that respect”. This differs McConnells assessment of inquiry i.e. from the Trumps, who on Sunday called the inquiry an ”illegal” attempt to dismiss him.
” that is said to be ”comprehensive” – there is no answer to the question of why Putin wanted to establish Trump. Why was it so important for Russia to ensure that Clinton would not win the election? It remains to be seen whether Mueller in his report gives a context to the Russian valpåverkan.
The conservative Trumpkritiske author and debater David Frum commented on the situation after William Barr published their report:
”Good news, America. Russia helped to install your president. But despite the fact that he got his job in large part thanks to the help, conspired not the president with his patrons. He received the stolen goods, but he conspired not with the thieves in advance.”
