Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, the embattled Michigan Democrat who had been struck with a current ethics complaint after supposedly accepting a discounted personal jet trip into Florida while warning residents contrary to leaving the nation, apologized Sunday following a photograph appeared on social websites which seemed to demonstrate her ignoring social distancing guidelines in a pub in the nation.
The Detroit Free Press reported the photograph showed the governor having a huge group in The Landshark Bar & Grill, which will be in East Lansing. The newspaper pointed out that the band had been unmasked and there appeared to be no social distancing.
“I went with friends to a neighborhood restaurant,” Whitmer said in a statement obtained by the newspaper. Since we were vaccinated, we did not stop to consider doing it. In retrospect, I must have thought about it. I’m human.
Her office didn’t immediately respond to a after-hours email from Fox News. The newspaper reported that the photograph first appeared on societal media following an attendee submitted the image and deleted it. The report stated Whitmer seemed to be using a dozen individuals with tables pushed together. The Free Press pointed out that the country still needs social distancing in restaurants, even with no longer than six people at pubs.
Whitmer has come under scrutiny for having a jet owned by prominent business executives and mostly covering the price of Michigan Transition 2019, a nonprofit fund which has been originally created for inauguration occasions. The tab was $27,521, together with Whitmer personally paying 855 of the sum.
