People who heat with heating oil, wood pellets and the like can hope for support soon because of the high energy prices. As the newspapers of the Funke media group reported on Tuesday, the federal and state governments have paved the way for a planned hardship fund with an administrative agreement. Private households that have been affected by the sharp rise in prices and at the same time are not benefiting from the gas price brake should be able to apply for state funds as early as April.

The prerequisite for this is that household costs for pellets, oil, liquid gas, coal and the like have doubled compared to the reference prices for 2021. Consumers can then submit their bills for the period from January 1 to December 1, 2022 and be reimbursed for up to 80 percent of the additional costs and a maximum of 2000 euros.

“Now that the federal and state governments have agreed on the payment modalities in a joint agreement, it is now up to the federal states to act,” explained SPD MP Matthias Miersch. “You have to ensure that citizens can submit their applications and receive support as quickly as possible.”
