”In Ukraine, we have freedom of the press, free media and free internet access. Therefore, we know very well what it means to have a Russian passport. It means the right to be arrested during the peaceful demonstrations, the right to not get hold free elections, the right to completely forget the individual rights and freedoms”, writes Ukraine’s newly-elected president Volodymr Zelenskyj on their Facebook page.

At the end of the week, Putin first, Russia facilitates the process for residents in the separatistkontrollerade Luhansk and Donetsk to become Russian citizens. Then raised he the stakes further and said that the new rules will apply to all Ukrainian citizens.

On his Facebook page now gives Zelenskyj Putin response. According to him, it is rather the Russian citizens who should be offered a safe haven in Ukraine.

”the Ukrainians are a free people in a free country. We offer a sanctuary to people who are languishing under the authoritarian and corrupt regimes. This applies above all to the russians, who probably suffer most of all”, writes Zelenskyj.

in both Ukrainian and Russian, adds Zelenskyj that he is ready for dialogue.

”It pays not to threaten Ukraine, or trying to exert military and economic pressure against us. It is not the best way to solve the problem with the blocked Minskavtalet.”

Zelenskyj was elected president last Sunday a week ago by a wide margin – nearly 73 per cent against Petro Porosjenkos 25. He immediately announced that one of his top priorities is to bring home all prisoners of war.

”I hope that we shall soon have a new meeting within the framework of the Normandieformatet and to Russia, which shows that it is ready to calm down the situation. (Normandieformatet, who negotiated a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, consists of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine.) But I hope that Russia will strive to speak rather than to shoot,” writes Zelenskyj on Facebook.
