The kiss? An apostrophe rose between the words ‘inequality’. Don’t want to Rostand and the people of the romantics, but is the science talking: the experts from the university of Abertay, in Dundee (Scotland) have discovered an unexpected correlation between the economic inequality present in a nation and how often the citizens of that nation, there is kissing and “French”. Curiously, scientists have not reported correlations similar to other manifestations of affection or love, such as hugging or sexual intercourse. The study was published in the journal Scientific Reports. How important is kissing in a relationship The results of the research team based on the analysis of the responses to questionnaires administered to approximately 2300 people from 13 different Countries of the world, scattered across six continents. In the questionnaires, the researchers asked participants, among other things, how often baciassero their partner and how they felt it was important to the kiss within a relationship. The starting hypothesis is that the kiss has an important role in the assessment of the partners, both for purely physical – in some way it allows to evaluate the good health of the other – that is to psychological issues, because that makes you understand what the other wants to ‘invest’ in a long-term relationship. And the frequency with which you kiss is consequently also related to the economic and social welfare of the environment in which you live: who lives in a Country with strong economic disparities may be driven to ‘invest’ more in love, not having too much else on which to focus. Another interesting aspect is that “in the Countries under examination, the kiss of mouth-to-mouth seems to be considered more important in a stable relationship in the early stages of a relationship.” The kiss ‘French’, between well-being and romance “the outcome of The analysis,” explained Christopher Watkins , of the department of psychology of the university, “suggests that the environment in which you live is actually related to the French kiss. Previous research [and centuries of dramas, heartaches, works of art and aphorisms in chocolates, ndr] had previously suggested that the kiss was linked to the quality of a romantic relationship: our data confirm that we tend to kiss us more if we live in an environment with less rewards, an environment where dedication to the relationship has a higher value”. All because – they always say the authors – those who live in areas with greater economic inequality tends to give more importance to stability and to the maintenance of a relationship.
